Family Sponsorship

In Canada, the Family sponsorship allows Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and registered Indigenous persons under the Canadian Indian Act to sponsor eligible family members for Canadian permanent residence. As one of the most popular immigrations streams, the family sponsorship process helps reunite families by providing a straightforward pathway for eligible relatives.

Family Sponsorship Process
Under the Family Sponsorship program, to help eligible relatives become Canadian permanent residents, both the sponsorship and permanent residence applications must be submitted together. The two applications must be completed:
 - The sponsor must complete a sponsorship application for their eligible relatives.
 - The eligible relative must complete their application for permanent residence.

The sponsor
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Indigenous person may be eligible to sponsor a relative if they are over the age of 18, can prove that they are not receiving social assistance, except for reasons related to a disability, and can demonstrate the ability to provide for the basic needs of those they wish to sponsor.

Additional criteria may apply depending on the specific circumstances of both the sponsor and the relative they wish to sponsor, such as financial support, sponsorship agreements, and income requirements, etc.

Who Can Be Sponsored
Provided all other criteria are met, the following eligible family members may be sponsored for Canadian permanent residence through the Family Sponsorship pathway:

 -  Spouses, common-law partners, and conjugal partners;
 -  Dependent, adopted, and step-children;
 -  Orphaned siblings, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren;
 -  Other relatives related by blood or adoption.

Family sponsorship applications can be complex, and ensuring accuracy is essential to achieving a successful outcome. At Cozyka Immigration, we guide both sponsors and applicants in navigating the Canadian family sponsorship process, ensuring full compliance with immigration requirements, minimizing delays, and helping you reunite with your family in Canada.
